The New Paltz Hampton Inn is a proposed 87-unit hotel at the corner of South Putt Corners Road and Terwilliger Lane in the town of New Paltz, NY. Currently the site is occupied by an abandoned warehouse and distribution facility. The project will involve redeveloping the site into an 87-unit Hampton Inn. Several considerations were taken into account during the design and approval process. These included an extensive landscaping and tree-saving plan to minimize the visual impact of the site; providing pedestrian connections to the adjacent properties and nearby village; developing a lighting plan which utilized energy-efficient LED lighting; developing a plan to widen the existing county highway to provide a turning lane; developing plans for upgrading an existing municipal sewage pump station; working with the developer and architect to design a site plan and building that maintained the local character of the surrounding community. The site will also feature a stormwater treatment system which will utilize sand filters, bio-retention and subsurface detention/infiltration to meet stormwater pollutant removal goals. When complete, the project will be an asset to the local community and tourism.
